The Congregate Meals program serves older adults (aged 60 and older) with a nutritious lunchtime meal for a suggested donation of $2.50. Meals are served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.at Salerno’s Pizzeria and Sports Bar, 9301 W 63rd St, Hodgkins. Meals comply with the menu planning standards of the Department of Health & Human Services and the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans to meet the minimum Dietary Reference Intake requirements. Social activities follow the meal to provide clients with socialization and offer relief from loneliness, isolation, and depression. Examples of these activities include bingo, crafts, reading discussion groups, and board games. Occasionally educational programs are held after lunch to inform older adults about nutrition, health, and ways to increase their quality of life. This program is offered in cooperation with the Village of Hodgkins. The monthly menu will be posted on the Aging Care Connections’ website as soon as it is available. View May’s Menu!
